About the TARA

The Test of Academic Reasoning for Admissions (TARA)  is a three-part, computer-based admissions test designed to assess the reasoning and communication skills needed for success in some of the most academically rigorous courses:

Understanding the TARA’s structure and demands is crucial for effective preparation and achieving the best possible results.

  • Maximum Score: 9.0

    • The total score from the Critical Reasoning and Problem Solving modules is scaled to a range from 1.0 to 9.0

    • The Writing Task is not marked. A copy of the response is made available to each participating university to which the candidate has applied

  • Format: 3 modules (Candidates have to complete all 3)

    • Critical Reasoning (22 MCQs)

    • Problem Solving (22 MCQs)

    • Writing Task (1 essay from 3 prompts)

  • Test Duration: 2 hours (40 minutes for each module)
